The Canon EF-s 24mm f/2.8 STM is a tiny and super-sharp normal to wide lens for Canon's APS-C cameras. It makes an excellent replacement for any 18-55mm zoom, saving size and weight and adding a fast f/2.8 speed for use in dim light and making your viewfinder brighter. It is sharp but over twice as expensive. I haven't had a clear night to test it for AP yet, but it was worth the price to me for a small, WA, native E mount lens for carrying around on the camera. If you're wanting this specifically for astro, I would say that instead, take a look at the Samyang 24mm F1.4 manual lens. It has excellent coma handling compared to Canon equivalents. Stop down to F2 for sharpness. Still a very fast lens. Just search for comparison reviews of that lens vs a Canon lens and see the examples. NMam.
