The only thing the DLC had going for it was a flashback to an area not otherwise fleshed out well with lore/exposition, but it's in the past with most characters dead and thus kind of meaningless. And the damn quest also has the gall to lock you in for the 4-5+ hour slog the moment you start it, you can not leave without deleting all progress.
You can start the From the Ashes DLC in Kingdom Come Deliverance after you’ve completed the whole campaign, or at least come near the end.
