2012 Ram EGR Delete. Just bought my 2012 about 2 weeks ago. It already had the DPF removed, and the minimaxx installed. My question is on the EGR deletes. Is it worth spending the money on the Sinister EGR delete kit and throttle valve delete, or are the "generic" brands just as good?

Good, then you shouldn't have any issues. I'm not an expert, but I've done a heavy amount of research, and have done a delete myself. You may already be familiar with things I have to say, but I'll go ahead and say them - the EGR system is something slapped onto engines from I believe late 70s to mid 90s, they reduced emissions at the cost of engine health. It's said that the EGR system will

The biggest improvement is seen when a faulty EGR is blanked. but it depends on the car, driving style, etc etc. With the (solid) blanking plate fitted, the EGR system cannot fail anymore (scince it is disabled) so long term reliability is improved. A solid plate prevents any more carbon from contaminating the intake/ inlet manifold of the
The proper way is to hook it back up. Whether it is required where you live or not, the vehicle was designed to have one. But if you aren't going to run with an EGR, the proper way to delete it is to use a tuner to turn it off. Bama, Superchips, Hypertech, etc. have the ability to change many parameters in the system, including to ignore

I did my EGR delete and external oil cooler a few weeks ago. It took me since then to work out a few kinks in the performance of a few items (I had a broke injector plug, bad O-ring, blah blah..) Anyway, the truck is finally running fantastic, under all conditions.
The best method is to either delete the EGR or to put a solid block off gasket/plate in between the two intake and exhaust ports AND disconnect the EGR. Simply relying on the EGR valve to block the exhaust flow for long periods of time is simply a bad idea imo.

It's better to not have the EGR system on the engine and that's a well known fact. If you have no emmision testing there it's a good system to kick to the curb. If you have to run the EGR system using a good fuel additive like diesel kleen or the Ford stuff raises the cetane levels enough to actually help keep the intake and EGR valve much cleaner.

Get a piece of thin rubber tube, start the car, stick one end in your ear then go round the egr delete thing with the other end and see if you can hear any hiss. makes a great stethoscope Only way to know about the ecu and tuning is with a suitable tool to read the ecu file, should have the tuners name or company in it.

The only way to eliminate the EGR without spending money is to cut out a piece of metal to go over the hole that will be made when the valve is taken out. You could take off the EGR spacer to get rid of it, but if you did, you'd have no provision to bolt the throttle cable bracket

But one benefit is the intake stays cleaner without exhaust gases flowing back into it. And if you have egr problems, a blockoff plate is much cheaper than replacing the components. An egr itself can be pricey, along with the sensors and everything else. All I did was put in an aluminum plate between the egr and intake, and plug the vacuum line

Others set their base ignition timing ahead from 10 to like 13 degrees BTDC, so I fiNgured without the EGR and the EEC thinking it was working, I needed to keep it at 10 or at least not go all the way to 13. Asked a few times for the real-world timing change the EGR allows the ignition to advance, but never got a straight answer. :/ So gave up.
