Skoda Octavia Mk IV (2020 > ) Using phone as satnav in SE Estate. Hi! I've bought a new Octavia SE estate, 2021 model, and was initially disappointed to find it had no satnav (Navigation) installed. I've been recommend to just use my phone, but that apparently requires plugging it in via the USB port. Firstly, can anyone answer these questions

It takes all of 30 seconds to connect, it all depends on how quickly you can type the 16 digit synch code into your iPhone. Restart, delete settings and do it again. Reinstall app. You can Connect to wifi even if you have sim. Maybe need to update your infotaiment. You should activate your car in skoda Connect without beeing connected to your car. You scan your vin number under windscreen etc etc. Recomend you to follow guide in manual.

I got it to work in mine by creating a Hotspot on my iPhone and then connecting the car to that. I registered using the Skoda connect app and then entered a code into the car in Settings, Skoda Connect, Register. Only really used the online traffic functionality on the satnav and sending destinations to the car from the App.

With Bluetooth you can only start, pause and skip tracks. If you want to start a playlist, an album or just a song you gotta do it on the phone. With Mitsumi / Columbus you can do all this on the car's touchscreen and you get Album art. It's just more integrated. Whether it's of value to you is up to the individual.

The best thing i have discovered is that if you stick a 12v usb adapter (i use my tom-tom usb adapter) into the cigarette lighter you can leave your phone / iPad on charge overnight with the ignition off. This is great for camping. the dash usb doesn't work for very long after the ignition is off.

This all used to work with my old iPhone 8. Now, when I plug my iPhone 11 into the newly cleaned USB port, using a brand new, wokrking Apple branded lightning to USB lead (ÂŁ19 !!!), the phone intially starts to charge but then flicks in and out of charging rapidly for about 30 seconds before refusing to charge at all.

iPhone 13 Pro won't play through car USB. I recently upgraded from an iPhone X. I’ve never had any issues playing music through the USB in my car. I have tried several times now to play music with my new IPhone 13pro and it simply won’t play. It either acts like it’s going to play and then doesn’t and even if I hit play again it won’t Wait a few seconds, while the screen goes blank, and then enters "engineering" screen.
